Vinyl Pulse spots Idle Hands

Vinyl Pulse has just posted Some Photos of Idle Hands at his big debut at Comic Con.

I heard the toy maker finished the paint job on this prototype right before the show ... the model has a lot of elaborate textural detail that we've been working to get exactly right.

My favorite part is that the toy maker brought it from China stuffed in his suitcase. I don't know why that's my favorite part ... well, I guess because you wouldn't expect to find this character in a suitcase. That's why.

And what if you had x-ray glasses and everyone was carrying these guys around in their suitcases ... and you didn't? I suspect that wouldn't be a very reassuring feeling. But that would probably the least of your worries if your x-ray glasses actually worked.

Comic Con 2008 - Toy Preview

The three official colorways

Rumor has it that "Idle Hands" will be making a special guest appearance at Comic Con in San Diego. This figure is coming straight from the toy factory (packed in a suitcase), and includes details like hand painted skin. The toy maker made a last minute effort to finish him to preview at the show. You'll be able to spot the little guy at the Toy Tokyo booth, # 5237.

Idle Hands is in production now and should be released later this year.

Tokyoplastic King of the Monsters

Vinyl Pulse has some pics of the Tokyoplastic King of the Monsters Show in New York City, where there are lots of photos of all the artwork. All the pieces in the show were a take on Toy Tokyo's Geisha vinyl toy.

Here's my take entitled, "Om My Geisha, OMG!" You have been warned.

"Idle Hands" Vinyl Toy - It's Coming

It's official. This weekend Toy Tokyo announced at the gargantuan Toy Fair 2008 plans to produce "Idle Hands," my first limited edition vinyl toy. While the final release date is a secret, we expect him later this year. In the meantime, so you can see what I'm talking about here's the (snazzy) poster from the show . . .

This is still in development . . . the colorways haven't been settled on yet, but it's coming. Or he's coming. And here's a sneak peak at some of the concept art . . . sketches, sculpts, and pigments.

"My Monster" Gallery Show

This month Windup Gallery sponsored a charity show, called "My Monster," for a local children's museum. Each artist got a child's drawing and then had to interpret it. I was given a drawing of "Jack" by Amanda Burns, age 10. A frightening beast! I did my best to capture his ferocious belly.

Both pieces of art were auctioned off as a pair. Here they are together:

Fancy - The Uncle Rhubarb Mask

Halloween is coming. Perhaps you are looking for a costume. Look no further. The "Uncle Rhubarb" mask is your answer. Not only will people throw candy at your feet and drinks in your face . . . it will also give you funnier looking ears than you already have.

If you couldn't tell, it's a mask of Uncle Rhubarb. I wore it for Halloween a couple times. So I know it works. Anyone can make a mask with this. That doesn't mean anyone will . . . but if anyone actually does, I'd love to see some pictures.

The image is hi-res and you can resize it to fit your head. You'll need a printer the size of your face.

The Random iPhone Gallery

The Random IPhone Gallery randomly fades between a menagerie of Mr. Sisson's critters your iphone. Now you can show off the graphics on your iphone with creepy style.

Maybe it's a bit geeky, but the random gallery could be interesting to anyone who wants to make their own iphone galleries. It is based on "Smooth Gallery" created by Jonathan Schemoul. Smooth Gallery is a javascript based slideshow that is covered under GPL. This version of the "Smooth Gallery" was modified for the specifications of the iphone.
