These high-dynamic-range panoramas were created as lighting environments for rendering and visual effects work. Each panorama captures the full range of light in a scene, allowing artists to use them for image-based lighting in 3D applications.
They were originally produced during my early experiments with HDR photography and rendering pipelines, when image-based lighting was becoming an increasingly powerful tool for digital artists.
Because HDR images capture real-world light intensity and color, they can be used to illuminate 3D scenes with natural reflections, soft ambient light, and realistic environmental lighting.
Here is the main campus of Pixar Animation Studios captured as a panoramic HDRI (32bit), suitable for image based lighting and CGI VFX. Feel free to use it whenever you require a panorama with giant lamp.

This HDRI was captured at Le Champs de Mars in Annecy, France on a sunny day. If you pay close attention, you can almost smell the raclette.
